Jaguar Repair: Engine Seized?, foolhardy endeavor, combustion chambers

Question
I just bought a 1993 XJ6 Vanden Plas. I just put a brand new starter in it and when I crank it over, it only turns about an 1/8th of a turn. I still haven't been able to find a shallow 34mm socket to turn the crank with so I'm not 100% sure it's locked up.

The lady who sold it to me said it had sat for about two years, would not start, and probably needed a new starter. I knew this was a foolhardy endeavor but I only paid $375 USD for it.

Can you help me, please?

Answer
Hi Jordan,
I have no experience nor info on any Jaguar after the 1987 models. However, an engine is an engine and you do need to turn the crank by hand to tell if it is locked up. I would also remove the spark plugs to see if water is in the combustion chambers. There is no way you can loose at $375. for the car (if you got a title).
