Jaguar Repair: Climate control on a series II XJ6, climate control system, sorry mark

Question
Hi Howard.  I have just purchased a series II XK6 as a restoration project.

The climate control seems to have a mind of its own.  It will be blowing cold one minute and then it will switch to heat and nothing will make it blow cold again until it wants to!

The sensor changes impedance and has a resistance of 9.3 at 30 degrees.

I'm guessing that the A/C amplifier has failed.  I twiddled the adjusting knob and heard some relays kicking in and out but now there is nothing.

Your thoughts?

Cheers

Mark

Answer
Sorry Mark, the climate control system on the Series III Jags is complicated and too much for me to diagnose via e-mail. My best advice is to get the Jaguar Climate Control publication. It is 70 pages and test sequence itself is 7 pages long. The amplifier has 9 pins, the relay pack has 12 pins and the servo has 14.

I can't work on one without the book open in front of me. So I sure can't tell anyone else how to fix one.
