Jaguar Repair: XJ6 SIII flasher warning lights, flasher system, brown wires

Question
Hi I have a 1982 series III. All the flashers and hazard warning lights work as they should apart from the two warning lights on the dash. I have tried replacing the flasher unit with a new one but no difference. When I remove the flasher unit and bridge across from the 49 terminal to C terminal with ignition on both warning lights light up so bulbs and diodes ok. Any suggestions please?

THanks

Answer
Hi Paul,
Disconnect the two light green and brown wires from terminal "C" on the flasher unit and use a test light to see if "C" blinks power when the flashers are working. If not, the flasher is either bad or wired wrong. "Wired wrong" can be a problem all the way back to the Four way flasher switch. (notorious for failure) If you need a good diagram of the flasher system let me know and I will put one on my web site for you to copy.
