Jaguar Repair: hood, latch, screwdriver

1985 xj6 I cannot get the passenger side hood to release. I need to charge the battery and can not get hood open. Thanks.

Hi Isaac,
In under the fender in the wheel well is a hole that you can insert a large heavy screwdriver to pry the latch open when a cable breaks.

The latch trips by going toward the front of the car, it sometimes helps if you have someone push down hard on that corner of the hood to help take the strain off of the latch while you pry.
