Jaguar Repair: how to get the rust from my xj6 car, surface rust, professional body

I have a 1986 XJ6 sitting outside for the past 4-6 years, it became rusted on top, then I covered it. It was running before well before. How can I get the rut off and have it repaired.
I would love to keep it and get it redone.

Hi Sheila,
The rust does need to be removed but it will take a professional body shop to determine how bad it is and what procedure is needed to remove it. If it is only surface rust they can easily remove it by sanding it which is the prep for painting anyway.  But if it is pitted it takes a different procedure and would probably need to be bead blasted to remove the rust then a sealer or have it glassed before the prep to paint.
