Question
i  have 85 xj6 jag i would like to kno// f// u// kno// why it take so long to shift to hi gear do it have a modola velve that work off vaccum or is it got a govner

Answer
Hi James,
I am not an automatic transmission tech but I have been working on and driving the series III Jags for many years and if that were a problem on my Jag, I would first look at the kick down cable adjustment at the throttle linkage. (a crimped stop on the cable should be aligned with the end of the housing when the throttle is closed)(keep in mind that a long delay between the 2nd gear and drive is normal on these cars.) (no vacuum mod on this trans)
Then check the oil level while at idle in Park. If that is ok, You should have the pressure tested and bands adjusted and check the condition, color and smell of the oil for burned clutch bands. This is a Borg Warner 66 transmission and most domestic auto transmission shops can work on it.
