Jaguar Repair: 86 jag xj6, air flow meter, airflow meter

Question
QUESTION: howard, we have red and green light on speed signal only on ecm, not on coil. white wire with black tracer on coil stays positive with key on and cranking but both wires at the injector are positive so we have no ground at the injectors when key is on. If we spray starting fluid in the airflow meeter the car will run until you stop spraying. thank you for all your help!

bob

ANSWER: The engine speed signal is the coil wire (White w/black tracer wire) and you can't have a steady signal at the coil and a pulsing signal at the other end of the same wire. If you had a steady light at the coil then you have no on/off switching of the coil thus no ignition.

QUESTION: my mistake i was testing the wrong side of the coil it has pulse

ANSWER: Bob, You didn't say that you were spinning the engine when you tested the injectors. Did you use a Noid light when testing the injectors? Or did you use the Logic Probe? and did you check to see that the fuel pump is activated when you open the airflow meter flap with the key on? Did you check any of the power supplies and grounds on the ECU?

QUESTION: i used a noid light and fuel pump runs when the air flow meter is open all grounds are where they belong pin 10 has power with key on

Answer
And pins 5, 16, 17 and 35 are good grounds? If so you need to find a known good ECU to try. But don't forget to first check for a good connection from the ECU to the injectors too.

Also, is the battery a deep charge battery? (diesel battery)
