Steering Column Repair: steering column noise, chevy silverado, intermediate shaft

hello mr Gan, i recently purchased a 2003 chevy silverado supercab with a tilt column, i sometimes hear  noises as though something is loose under the dashboard when turning the steering wheel or hitting small bumps.  i checked under the hood but no sound at all. whatever it is its under the dash. any and all help is appreciated. thanks in advance. wally

Hi Wally:

Diagnosing a noise on your car over the internet is virtually impossible.  You may have something as simple as a bulk connector hitting the dash frame or steering column, or you may have a loose or bad intermediate shaft inside the column.  There is really no way for me to tell what could be wrong.
I can offer you this forum that seems to describe your symptom, but it's only a suggestion.
