Jaguar Repair: No start/No electrical, starter solenoid, volt meter

Question
Hi Howard,

I went out to start my Jag tonight after work and the following happened:
-I put the key in the ignition and the buzzer came on and the car had power.
-As soon as I turned the key I heard a small pop and then the car had no power, and nothing happened.
-I tried to jump, still no power, and no turn over.

What could be some of the possibilities?

It was -12 degrees here today so maybe that could have been something to do with it.

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Blake,
I doubt the cold had anything to do with the problem.

When you have no power at all then you need to take a test light or volt meter and start testing first at the battery and the cable connections. (Positive and negative) Then check for power on the large battery cable on the starter solenoid and on the fire wall on both sides as there is a insulated power post in the firewall on both sides. Power inside the car comes from these two posts.
