Land Rover Repair: possible blown head gasket(99 disc.II), blown head gasket, coolant leak

Question
Hello,
My 99 discovery II overheated due to a coolant leak and shut down.I took it to a local repair shop, ran a compression test and found low compression on several cylinders.the stated cause was blown head gasket.my ? is would a blown head gasket cause my rover not to start? And also, what Other problems could have caused this to happen?

Answer
Yes it could be a blown head gasket, but It was only the beginning. If you didn't stop rapidly, then the pistons could stucked. If it happened they milled the cylinders and itselves too. So, I'm afraid It can cost so much, if you aren't lucky.
If the engine was weaker time and time again rapidly, that signs the pistons had stucked.
