Jaguar Repair: Radio Problems-85 XJ6 Series III, tracer wire, radio problems

Question
QUESTION: Hi Howard,
I've went through the steps you told me to on the radio.  I have found the relay and fuses and replaced all of them, the relay, 2a fuse, 20a fuse, there is also a 30a fuse (white wire with red stripe??)  What do you suggest now?  Is there another power supply I can go from?

ANSWER: Blake, did you test the relay and fuse for power? Why are you looking for another place to run power from? DON'T mess with the white w/red tracer wire!!!!! If you don't have a diagram of the system let me know and I will put one on my web site for you to copy.

QUESTION: Howard,
I've tested both the fuse and the relay, they aren't getting any power from the battery, either when the car is on or off.  What does that white/red tracer wire do (just for knowledge)?  I'm looking for another power supply because I can't get anything at all from any of the fuses or relays.

Answer
Blake, you will never find your problem if you continue down the road your seem to want to go. Why not find out why you have no power at the fuse and relay instead of searching for another source of power????? And wanting the trace down what other wires (starter system) do that have nothing to do with your problem????

You need to get and stay focused on YOUR problem. You obviously do not have the wiring diagram of the system so I am going to put one on my web site for you to copy. Go to, http://mg-tri-jag.net/Ser3Radio11x1.jpg for the diagram and http://mg-tri-jag.net/Ser3Radio21x1.jpg for the locater.
If you have any trouble reading a diagram let me know and I will try to help.
