Jaguar Repair: 87 JAG XJ6, air flow meter, filter canister

Question
HAVE A 1987 XK6.   NEITHER FUEL PUMP IS WORKING.  I KNOW THERE ARE 2 OR
3  ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS THAT CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN , BUT DON'T KNOW HOW
TO TROUBLE SHOOT TO FIGURE OUT THE REPAIR.

Answer
Hi Richard,
If you have an 87 XJ-6 Jaguar you only have one fuel pump. The test to see if it is working is to raise the hood and remove the three spring clips on the front of the air filter and slid the the front section forward, then loosen one of the clamps that hold the air filter can to the air flow meter and remove the small hose on the air filter canister and remove the canister and turn the ignition key to "On" (not "Start") and reach in the front of the air flow meter and manually open the flap inside the air flow meter. You should hear the fuel running through the fuel rail and hear the pump running.
If you hear it running, the system is working. If you hear nothing, you need a wiring diagram and a test light to start tracing where the failure is. If you don't have a diagram let me know and I will put one up on my web site for you to copy.
