Motorcycle Repair: 1991 883 clutch cable, sporster 883, clutch cable

I have a 91 sporster 883 and cant get the primary cover of does the clutch cable have to be removed and if yes how?

In order to remove the primary cover you first have to loosen the chain adjuster so there is slack in the chain. It is located under the primary about the center of it. You next have to remove the rear clutch cover on the primary cover and remove the clutch adjuster. remove the outer nut for the adjuster and then turn the adjuster acrew until the inner nut comes off
