Jaguar Repair: no heat, heater control valve, vacuum unit

Question
I have a 87 series 3 heater control valve hoses are hot nothing in the car is there a way too turn turn the heat on all the time i know  the heater core seeps on the micro processer thanks

Answer
Hi Keith,
First check to see if the vacuum unit is opening the heater control valve. The heater valve is a common failed item as they freeze up and the vacuum can't open the valve. If however the vacuum is opening the valve and you still have no heat in the car, then the blending doors are not working or the two fans are not operating or any one or more of a dozen items are failed and you need a book on the diagnostic procedure to isolate the problem. This is a complex system and much too extensive to do by e-mail. You need to purchase the repair manual to run through the procedure to isolate the problem. It would get very expensive to just replace the large relay and amplifier just because coolant has leaked on it in the hopes that it is what failed.
