Jaguar Repair: bad gas or water in fuel tank, tank drain, rain fall

Question
Hello recently after a really heavy rain fall, I filled up on petrol, I think that i got a bad batch of petrol and maybe there is water in the tank now, before fillin up all was well and car ran fine, now have a ff26 error and car will not start. I have added dry gas to petrol in an effort the get rid of any water in the tank and to offset fuel line freeze up. Any further suggestion and advise would greatly be apprecieated.
Sincerely

Answer
Hi Ivory in Hawaii,
You didn't say what kind of Jaguar but that does not matter with water in the gas. (If that is what you have) In Hawaii I don't think you will have a lot of trouble freezing up but that is not what trouble you will have. You will have two other problems and they are. One, water don't burn well and two, water don't go through an injector very well. Drygas only works on small quantities of water and will be difficult to get the Drygas into the lines, filter, pump and injectors.

Water settles to the bottom of gas and is thus easily removed by draining a small amount of fuel from the tank drain plug. (Best done by a shop equipped to do so) Any amount of water in the tank will show up very clearly. If water is found, you will need to change the fuel filter and clean out the fuel pump, lines and injectors. Not an inexpensive job.

Sorry to bring you possible bad news,
Howard
