Jeep Repair: Camshaft Position Sensor, camshaft position sensor, correct position

Question
I have taken the camshaft position sensor out of one motor and want to install it in a different motor. It looks like a distributor and it can be adjusted by rotating it once installed.
How do I know when it is rotated to the correct position so the motor will run? Both motors are 1997 4.2 v6. Some of the sensors I've seen on youtube are just plug and go, this is not that kind. It has a shaft with a sprocket and the sprocket rotates when the timing gear turns.

Answer
Inline 6  not v6  and 4.0  not 4.2   and if u took the whole distributor out  u screwed yourself because with out a scanner that can see cam signal sync u will never get it right.
The sensor itself u can replace just by taking off the cap and button
Buy  a service manual it will have instructions on how to set up a new distributor assembly setting the #1 to TDC and then installing the shaft correctly
