Jeep Repair: 1997 Jeep cherokee FM radio, mast assembly, jeep cherokee

Question
Hi, I recently lost reception for my FM radio in my 1997 jeep cherokee. The radio is the original. I ran over a pothole and the bump seemed to disconnect something and my FM radio is now only static. My AM radio still works. Possible the antennae was disconnected? I am wondering how to go about fixing this issue. I would like do do it myself but I do not have much repair knowledge. Is this an issue I am able to do myself or should I take it to a shop to avoid further issues?

Answer
From your description it would appear that the antenna cable has become disconnected from either the radio or from the mast assembly. Remove the radio and check there first, if the cable is still connected then follow the cable to where it exits the interior of the Jeep there should be another connecter there. If you find no problem with either connecter then the problem will lie in either the radio or the antenna cable itself, both of which would need to be tested by a professional to determine which needs to be replaced.
