QuestionI have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee (I know it is 4L 6 cylinder - but is that the engine? As you can see I have no idea what I am talking about here.)
I've been having a lot of trouble with my a/c. First the mechanic said I had a leak that they fixed; then they said I had another leak. Then I needed a new hose, then I needed a new compressor. So far, I've put about $1600 into fixing this, and nothing has worked. The a/c runs cold for awhile, and then stops chilling.
Now they say I need a new evaporator, and since I've had so much work done, they will do that for $625. From looking on different websites I think I might just need a low pressure cycling switch.
My question is - about how much should it cost to change a low pressure cycling switch? I think my mechanic may be ripping me off. (As you can tell by now, I know nothing about cars.) I live in the NYC area, and I know it is more expensive here, so I don't expect a firm number. But I'd like to know if I am looking at a $500+ bill or something else.
Thanks.
Answerhonestly I cant tell u where something is leaking from that is why they are suppose to put dye into the system to see whats leaking. Sounds like they are only guessing and U should make them pay for what ever is needed to be fixed now because of all the guess work done thus far.
