Jeep Repair: error code P1697, jeep grand cherokee laredo, jeep grand cherokee

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo....just recently got a ck eng. light...used an ELM327 type scanner to displey codes...
I reset the P1697 code and a couple of others that I assume are Chrysler specific codes...C0700 and C0701(?)

The ck eng. light goes out, then comes back on the next time I start the eng.

Is there a routine to reset this code?
Why did it occur in the first place?

Thanks,
Bob C.

ANSWER: P1697-EMR (SRI) MILEAGE NOT STORED
700s are tranny codes

QUESTION: Kevin, I know what the P1697 is...I just want to know if there is a SPECIAL procedure that needs to be done to clear it.

When I reset it with the scanner, it comes back on when I restart the engine.
The local Jeep service dept. was not much help...said that a mileage figure had to be MANUALLY written to the EEPROM, or a new one needed to be installed!

Do you have anything further to add as far as clearing up this problem?

Also, are the CD0700 and C0701 PROBLEM codes with the tranny, or just informational??

Thanks,
Bob C.

Answer
u fix the issues and the light will go away  u cant just turn off the light sorry  there is not a computer reset as well.   u will more then likely need a new computer.
as for the 700 codes  no idea  need the codes from the tranny side of the computer to correct this issue
