Jeep Repair: overheat, 2000 Jeep Cherokee Blown radiator Christian Customs all metal rust water

Question
Hello and thank you, here is the problem.I have a 2000 jeep cherokee with a 4.0 L6 2wheel drive automatic trans.  One of my radiator plastic side tanks broke and I replaced the radiator.  I thought it might be the thermostat so I checked it with the hot water trick and it appeared to open at around 210 or just as the water started to boil. The water pump doesn't appear to be leaking and it doesn't make any noise.  I'm wondering if it could still be bad or if the thermostat just doesn't open soon enough.  Has two fans.  One is always on and the electric comes on at 210 degrees.  I ran water through engine without thermostat and radiator connected and everything seeemed to flow fine.  Also did a back flush on heater hoses and core before reassembling. I'm thinking to try without thermostat and if that works get a new one that is rated lower at maybe 190.  Seems that if it was the pump it would make some noise unless the impeller just sits there while the shaft spins.  Not sure never seen the inside of this pump.  Anyway thanks for any insight and expertise.

Answer
I was just looking over your question and I really dont understand what you are asking here. If you are trying to find a reason why your radiator broke I can help you with that. First off, Were you riding it rough, aka 4 wheeling and maybe something hit it and caused it to break? what kind of radiator do you have? If its one with plastic end caps (stock) consider moving up to a 3 core radiator that is all metal. The stock ones are not the best to start off with.

After doing everything that you did, did you find any signs of rust in the water? like a brownish film in there at all? If so I may have the perfect thing to help you. First make sure that you have flushed everything out very well and everything looks to be pouring clear water out. Then stand at the front of your jeep and look at the top of the Radiator and on the right hand side you should see a tube by the cap going from there to the reserve tank. Take this tube off and clean it really really good, IF there is any kind of obstruction in there that will cause your radiator to blow out because it can not releve the pressure back into the tank.

Try that and see if it works for you.
