Jeep Repair: JEEP Gr. Cherokee & O2 Sensors, jeep grand cherokee, o2 sensors

Question
Hi this is the person following up about the O2 sensors & the catalytic convertors. The code that was given was P0420 & the engine is 4.0L.

My orignial inquiry was: "I was advised that I need to replace 2 catalytic convertors and 2 Oxygen sensors in my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's a 4X4 and has approx. 115,000 miles on it. The check engine light comes on periodically. Stays on for a few days/weeks & then off for a few days/weeks. The price that I was quoted from Goodyear to get it all done was 2759. They said the parts had to come from JEEP only and that one of the parts would cost around $1100-1200 by itself. Does that sound right? Seems super expensive. Searching online, I've not seen reference to a convertor costing that much. Also, I was advised that I didn't have to get it all done at once. If I went that route what would you suggest I do first or in combination? I really just don't want to get 'taken for my money.' Thanks in advance for your assistance."

Answer
P0420-1/1 CATALYTIC CONVERTER EFFICIENCY

yes u will need new converters and o2 sensors.
the 2 upstream converters are one pipe.
I would call around to different places  try a muffler shop
of for that matter call a dealer and ask them what they would charge for upstream converters and o2 sensors,
