Jeep Repair: A/C Compressor, jeep liberty, defroster

Question
QUESTION: Does the air compressor make noise(Like a clicking noise) when the defroster's is turned on?  Also, does the compressor have a metal thing in the front of it that turns around and around that makes this clicking noise?  This is what my 2002 jeep liberty is doing.  I was told it is the a/c compressor.  This vehicle is not that old. Does this happen often to a vehicle such as mine that is only 5 years old?

ANSWER: the clicking noise is the clutch engaging and turning off  yes its normal. The new ones are not as loud so if u can live with it  its ok and suppose to do it.

QUESTION: I don't think it's suppose to make this noise. What clutch are you speaking of.  Yes, the air compressor makes noise (like a clicking noise) when the defroster's is turned on. yes, the compressor has a metal thing in the front of it that turns around and around that makes this clicking noise.  I was told also it was the a/c air compressor, however, the A/C still continues to work, and why in the world is this happening to a vehicle that is only 5 years old. I have put a lot of money into this 2002 jeep liberty, and the parts are expensive and so is the labor..it is outrageous.  Come back. I need answers. Thanks for your help.

Answer
I just told u its normal its loud because its on top of the engine and there is nothing else to mask the sound. It is suppose to click when the compressor comes on it means its engaged and the freon is being compressed  and it will do the same when u have defrost on it will take out moisture from the air inside. If it makes noise  while it is no like squealing or loud roaring sound then u have a  bad compressor  other then that a click is normal.
