Jeep Repair: 1999 Jeep Cherokee Flasher, passive restraint systems, jeep cherokee


Question
I followed your procedure (for removal of the flasher) prior to looking up this article.  When I was in there I could not find the flasher (using the new part for comparison)  can you be more specific as to where it is behind the knee blocker?

COMBINATION FLASHER
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, Refer to PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

REMOVAL
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the knee blocker from the instrument panel. Refer to Knee Blocker in the Removal and Installation section of Instrument Panel Systems for the procedures.
Reach through the outboard side of the steering column opening to access and disengage the combination flasher wire harness connector retainer from the instrument panel diagnostics mounting bracket Combination Flasher Remove/Install
Pull the combination flasher into the instrument panel steering column opening far enough to access the wire harness connector.
Remove the combination flasher from the wire harness connector.
Remove the combination flasher from under the instrument panel.
INSTALLATION
Position the combination flasher under the instrument panel.
Align the combination flasher terminals with the terminal cavities in the wire harness connector.
Push in firmly on the combination flasher until the terminals are fully seated in the terminal cavities in the wire harness connector.
Install the combination flasher wire harness connector retainer into the mounting hole of the instrument panel diagnostics mounting bracket.
Install the knee blocker onto the instrument panel. Refer to Knee Blocker in the Removal and Installation section of Instrument Panel Systems for the procedures.
Reconnect the battery negative cable.
