Jeep Repair: Fan Selector Switch and A/C - 96 Jeep Laredo 4x4, jeep laredo, jeep 4x4

Question
QUESTION: The a/c in our '96 Jeep 4x4 just stopped working all of a sudden. There was no warning. Worked great one day, then not the next, and still doesn't. Also the (ambient, not cold)air only comes out at the windshield where the defroster is meant to come out. Nothing comes out at the dash or the floor no matter where you set the direction on the selector switch.  Would love to know what happened and how to fix it.  Thanks very much.

ANSWER: what part does not work??  are u not getting any air  or is it just not cold air?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Possibly 2 parts - the selector switch and the cooling of the air. As stated in my original question the "air only comes out at the windshield", so YES, there IS air.  Just Only at the windshield. Does this make sense?  And again, the air is NOT cold; ambient means that it is the temperature of the surrounding air; not heated, not cooled. Does this make sense? I was under the impression this service was for a best guess diagnosis; I am no where near Georgia. Internet is great, but maybe I'm misunderstanding the purpose of this platform. I didn't realize it was used to get people in to your shop. My mistake. If you Do have a best guess, I'd still love to know where we should look to narrow down the search for the fault.  Thanks very much.

Answer
The thing U see at the end of my response is just my signature.
I needed more info on your issue to give u a better idea of whats going on. If both stopped working at the same time  then I would say an ac control head is at fault  which is the knobs and such. The doors are vacuum control ed  so I might have a vac leak in a line or a servo leaking down the system.  I would go with the control head first.
