Jeep Repair: 2002 Grand Cherokee starter removal, starter solenoid, starter removal

Question
QUESTION: What is the best way to remove the starter from a 2002 Grand Cherokee 4.0L 4X4. There seems to be no room to remove it without disconnecting the exhaust or suspension parts.

ANSWER: REMOVAL
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the lower (forward facing) mounting screw securing the starter motor to the automatic transmission torque converter housing (Starter Motor Remove/Install - 4.0L Engine) or (Starter Motor Remove/Install - 4.7L Engine).
While supporting the starter motor with one hand, use the other hand to remove the upper (rear facing) mounting screw securing the starter motor to the automatic transmission torque converter housing.
Lower the starter motor from the front of the automatic transmission torque converter housing far enough to access and remove the nut that secures the battery cable eyelet to the solenoid battery terminal (Starter Wire Harness Remove/Install - 4.0L Engine) or (Starter Wire Harness Remove/Install - 4.7L Engine). Always support the starter motor during this process, do not let the starter motor hang from the wire harness.

Disconnect the solenoid terminal wire harness connector from the connector receptacle on the starter solenoid. Always support the starter motor during this process, do not let the starter motor hang from the wire harness.
Remove the starter motor from the engine compartment.

QUESTION: Thank you for your quick response. I made a mistake in the engine size. This has the 4.7L V-8. There is very little room to disconnect the wires let alone remove the starter from the vehicle. I think the only way is to disconnect the exhaust system. Do now another way?

Ed
