Jeep Repair: jeep stalling, jeep grand cherokee laredo, jeep grand cherokee

I have a 97 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0 and 4*4 all of a sudden when you slow down or stop at a stop sighn it will either stall on me ot it wil start shaking real bad and loose power then cut off after it does that it will start back up but have noticed it is starting to take longer to start each time it happens and also when it does it there is a weird smell that comes out that is hard to subscribe.can anybody help me please

It could be a problem with the fuel injection. Has it lost fuel mileage lately? Does it run fine otherwise? And finally is the check engine light on? Let me know and I'll be able to give you a better idea of what it could be. Thanks If it smells like rotten eggs it will be the catalytic convertor.
