Jeep Repair: Fuel Filter Location, jeep cherokee sport, jeep cherokee

Question
Hi Nathan,

I own a 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 and bought it used last November. I didn't get a tech. manual with it. Although I've easily located the oil and the air filter, I want to go ahead and change the fuel filter before it plugs. Can you tell me how to locate this fuel filter and what size wrenches I would need?

Thank you very much!

Mike E.

Answer
Some of these jeeps dont have fuel filters, they are located inside the fuel pump module in the fuel tank.  However I have a 93 grand cherokee and it is located just in front of the fuel tank.  So look in front of the fuel tank, on the driver's side it might be there.  Remember to remove your fuel pump fuse and run it until it stalls then remove your fuel filter.  The fuel filter lines have tabs on them pinch the tabs and pull the line off.  Just push the lines back on until they click.  Put your fuse back in and check for leaks and your done. Hope this helps.
