my jeep cherokee sport is making a loud whiring noise in the rear of the vehicle. i think it is comeing from the gas tank. only when the tank is more than half full does it make this sound. the vehicle has e been sitting for over a month.i am wondering if the gas could have gotten some corrosion in while siting so long. i am also wondering if i change the fuel filter would it stop the whirring vibrating noise.

The only noise that can come from a fuel tank is the fuel pump and usually that is silent in operation but you never know.
I would suspect the noise is coming from somewhere else.  Have a mechanic test drive your car and see if they can tell what is going on.
