Jeep Repair: no air condition, jeep cherokee, monthes

Air vents blow out hot air only in my 98 jeep cherokee.I noticed awhile back the ac button does not stay depressed and air condition would trip or not engage so I suspected the control panel. I never followed up to repair so about 2 monthes ago I notice the temp control setting does not work. Nothing but hot air blows out in all settings. Is it the control panel? or something else that basically affects AC and Heater?

I would start by having the air conditioning system checked and recharged if needed.
If that checks out OK (and I bet it don't), you will need to bring in the experts to check out your controls.  You could have a divertor door that is not opening, a control that is not working, etc.
