Jeep Repair: motor, small block chevy, jeep wrangler

I have a 1988 six cylinder Jeep Wrangler with 200,000 miles.  The old gal is loosing power and I'm thinking of replacing the engine.  What are some other upgrades I should consider during this project, and could you recommend a good performance carb. ?

It all depends on your budget and what you mean by upgrade. If it were mine, I would replace the old 6 with a 350 or 400 small block Chevy V-8, swap out the transmission for a TH400.
