Land Rover Repair: 98 Disco I LE side mirrors stuck

Question
Hi!

On my late dad's 1998 Discovery LE, the side view mirrors have stopped being adjustable.  The interior adjustment function is not working, and they are not able to be moved manually.  I'm concerned that if we try too hard, something will break.

It's a problem, though, because their current position doesn't work for my husband when he drives the car.  He can't see a blessed thing in the other lanes!

Any ideas?

Thanks, in advance --

Answer
You are right that the mirrors will not adjust manually and if you try to force them you will break them.  The circuit is simple, with power coming into the switch and going from there to the mirrors.  Find a shop who can do basic electrical troubleshooting and they should be able to sort it out. Check your power - fuses, etc, and check for power coming into the switch assembly.
