Land Rover Repair: Discovery 1 rearview mirror

Have purchased a replacement mirror but need instructions on how to remove old unit from the windshield of my 1998 Discovery.

At the risk of sounding like a wise guy the answer to the removal question is one word:
CAREFULLY!

We see lots of broken windshields from people pulling these off.  Sometimes you can twist and remove the glued pieces and other times breakage is unavoidable no matter how careful you are
