Land Rover Repair: 2001 Land Rover key stick in ignition

Question
How to get it out? Did notice a warning light - and "s" inside a gear wheel.... manual requires you to go page by page to find what that means.

Answer
You may have a mechanical problem with the lock, or you may have a problem with the key release solenoid circuit, which keeps you from taking the key out if the vehicle is not in Park.  The S symbol shows that Sport model is selected on the automatic transmission; it's not a fault
