Land Rover Repair: 2000 land rover discovery series 2, land rover discovery, crank sensor

Question
Ok I bought the suv from a used dealer they installed a gps on it. With that said  it drove fine for 2 months. Then it started driving for almost 2.2 miles exactly then shut off no warning. I would have to wait for about 15 minutes then it would start and run for another 2 miles. I replaced the alternator with a new bosch. I also replaced the battery with a new maxx 24s from wal-mart. Now it has absolutely no power none of the lights come on and it doesn't even give me a slow crank. Any thoughts on this. And the ignition feels like it doesn't turn back far enough to off like some cars have the ability to turn towards you for radio and such. Mine just turns to on and start is that right.

Answer
It sounds like you have multiple problems.  The cutting out after two miles may be a failing crank sensor.

Your lack of power to the car is something else.  It's time to start with the basics there.  Test battery voltage - is it charged?  If so, trace the flow of power and ground connections to the alternator and fusebox until you find where the power is lost.

As for the ignition key - its possible your trouble is a failed ignition switch but Land Rovers do not have an accessory position to the left as some cars do, so that is not a problem just a difference.
