Land Rover Repair: 1996 Disco 5 speed, linkage problem, clutch pedal

Question
I have a 96 disco  5-speed. When I went to drive it yesterday I could not get it in to gear. The clutch feels like it has the proper pressure and return. Fluid is full, and I loosened the line going to the slave and pumped the clutch pedal and plent of fluid came out. The shifter feels like its bound up. If I play with it I can get it into 2nd or 3rd. It was driving fine earlier in the day.

Answer
If the car will not go into gear, it must have a transmission or clutch problem.  You say the clutch feels normal but the shift lever does not move properly.  Presumably you've owned the car long enough to know what's normal in terms of how the shift lever feels.

If the lever feels stuck you could have a failure inside the transmission, or there could be a linkage problem.  You have to take apart the center console to access the linkage.  That would be the first stop for me.  If the linkage is all good you need to look inside the gearbox
