Land Rover Repair: 94 Disco not starting, penetrating oil, transfer case

Hello, I have a 94 Discovery that was running just fine until I engaged into 4 High and engine shut off. Now engine does not try to turn over. As I turn key I hear just one click Any ideas Thanks

Your transfer case has four positions: Hi unlocked (normal driving), Hi locked, Lo unlocked, and Lo locked.  The linkage often rusts and the vehicle won't crank if it's not fully in gear.  There is always the possibility that something else is wrong but this is the most likely problem based on what you say.  You may have to spend a few hours with penetrating oil to get everything free and moving, then get back into hi unlocked and go on your way
