Land Rover Repair: Possible Engine Block Leak, cracked block, leak tester

Question
One fault code shows a misfire for cylinder 2. The spark wires were replaced. The next step would be to check the coil, however I was told it might actually be a cracked engine block or an intake gasket issue. Have you run across this problem before? I'm going to Napa to get an engine block leak tester tomorrow. Any other suggestions?

Answer
You should not jump to the conclusion that a #2 misfire means a cracked block.  Step one is plugs.  Step 2 is wires.  Step 3 is coil packs.  Do those things and then look at the situation.  Intake manifolds rarely cause vacuum leakage and misfires in Rovers.  Block problems are usually a result of overheating.

Best of luck with it!
