Question
I have a 2001 LR Disc. II SE7. Recently the heat stopped working unless I was driving around 60 mph then would turn back to cold air upon slowing or stopping. Then the engine started running hot and the antifreeze is a little low. The engine would cool back down when I was driving fast again (60 mph). Also the back door one day stopped opening. When I pull the handle to open it the handle sticks. One other thing the transmission is sticking a bit when I first accelerate. The car has 102,000 miles on it. Thanks

Answer
It sounds like you have several distinct problems.  The heat is going away because the truck is getting low on coolant.  The most likely reason for that would be that you have a leak.  That's something you should attend to right away because driving the truck low on coolant can lead to overheating and engine failure.   And a cooked engine could cost you $10,000.

The transmission may be in need of fresh fluid, or there may be more to the story.  The trans fluid is supposed to be changed every 30,000 miles - have you done that?  If not that's the place to begin.  I suggest Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.

The back door and all the doors should be lubed on all hinge and pivot points with good penetrating oil and then followed up with some grease that will hold the lube in place.

Good luck,
