Land Rover Repair: freelander locking, door locks, actuator

on my 97 freelander when i press the unlock bottom on the remote drivers door doesn't unlock all other doors do and rivers door locks when i press lock but it won't unlock.... have to do it with the key..... any help would be great... thanks..

Hi Adam,

yes, I've seen this with my Disco.  What I did was lubricate the 'internals', that is, the door locking mechanism.  I removed the door panel and exposed the locking mechanism.  I first used compressed air to clean out the area around the door handle and lock.  I then traced down along the lock wire and sprayed lubricant where ever I thought was necessary (which was any joint I could see).  I was also careful not to overspray.  This should help.

It may mean that this lock actuator is slowly failing and will have to be replaced.
