Land Rover Repair: 2003 Intermittent Windshield Wiper & Turn Signal Issues, land rover experience, land rover discovery

Question
I am looking for some help regarding my 2003 Land Rover Discovery.  Ever since the beginning of winter my windshield wipers will not engage when I first turn them on.  If I fiddle with the windshield switch they will go on intermittently and will end up having a mind of there own.  It gets to be a big pain in the rear end when its snowing like crazy.  During the last couple days now my turn signals are doing the same thing.  I will turn them on and will have to fiddle with the lever before I get any response.  Sometimes I don't have to put much effort into it, other times it will take 5 minutes to get them to work.  I am just curious to see if you know what is causing this.  It's obviously an electrical issue, but I don't know where to pin point it.  I truly appreciate your help!  Thanks again!

Answer
Well, it's possible the fiddling points to a bad switch, and the switches do fail because they get handled a lot. But it could be elsewhere too.  Your best bet would be to find a shop that has Land Rover experience and a good parts department.  They can do tests and they could, for example, swap the switch to see what happens.  As an individual you ability to do stuff like that is diminished because you have to buy pieces for every step.
