Land Rover Repair: Very Poor Idle, discovery package, rangie

G'day John. I have fitted a 3.9 disco Engine & Trans into my old '87 Rangie. Ever since it has idled poorly and cuts out. i have cleaned the stepper, put a new water temp sensor in for the EFI. Upped the idle a bit, cleaned the distributor, and still no good. Now I was reading that the transmission speed sesnor may effect idle also...mine isnt hooked up at all! (read wires cut off) is there an easy wasy to reconnect this? where too? Any info may help. cheers Andy

Which engine management electronics do you have?  I'd swap over the whole Discovery package, or run the whole RR pack.  You probably have a mix right now and that is probably the root of your troubles
