Land Rover Repair: belt / tentsioner, land rover discovery, spring tension

Question
how do i use the tension on a 97' land rover discovery v8? i just can't seem to get it to work.

Answer
You put a long wrench on the nut in the center of the idler and push to swing the tensioner loose.  After swapping the belt, you release the wrench and the spring tension holds the belts.  It's sort of automatic
