Land Rover Repair: m + s lights flashing, shift into overdrive, check capability

Question
I just had a new throttle heater put on my '03 Disc and when pulling away my M + S light are all flashing and it won't shift into overdrive.  I might add I have never had a transmission issue. I do use my low range as well as the HDC many times per week showing real estate. What is going on here? I have a good mechanic that can fix,but no diagnotic check capability in our small town.

Answer
There is no way to know what's going on without the proper diagnostic equipement and training.  It could be something knocked loose in service; it could be mere coincidence.  Everything breaks some times.

I'd suggest you address this promptly as a new transmission is costly and the current behavior may indicate the potential for trouble.

I do urge you to find a truly qualified shop as "local mechanics" often do more harm than good on specialty cars.
