Land Rover Repair: Tire Pressure Dashboard Indicator, metal caps, mechanical damage

Question
Besides low tire pressure, is there anything else that could turn on this indicator?  Also, is it necessary to have non-metal caps on the tire stems?  This is a 2006 LR3.  Thanks for helping.    Nancy

Answer
It is not necessary to have non-metal caps, but you will void your warranty if you do not.  The manufactuer has a preference for them.

Over pressure, a damaged sensor, several electrical problems or mechanical damage can bring on this indicator.  You could set your tire pressures to 46 psi.  If this does not clear the fault, have the codes read at a Land Rover repair shop or dealer.
