Question
Hi John

I am most impressed with your knowledge. My problem is that my disco which has done 203 000 kms is starting to miss intermittently when I am on the open road driving at 120 kmph it jerks and loses a bit of power and then it goes away again.I have had it in many times with the agents but they dont seem to be able to fix it.I have had the tank flushed and cleaned the fuel pump replaced fuel filter and air cleaner replaced checked the fuel pressure regulator valve and still the problem comes back

Please help desperate otherwise my wife wants me to sell the vehicle

Answer
Losing power at high speed usually indicates a fuel flow problem in a diesel.  Are the filters all new and clean?  Are the lines clear?  Is the screen at the tank clear?

Another thing that can cause that is air getting into the lines.  Are the all tight?

Finally, you could have injector trouble.  You might pull them and have them flow tested.
