Land Rover Repair: Steering intermittant tightness early disco, cv joints, steering linkage

Question
Hi, I've begun to notice I've a steering that is becoming 'lumpy'. I can feel a tightness in the steering. So for example I could begin a right turn and the steering feels like it has a small area of resistance to overcome before moving freely again. Initial thoughts were the power fluid was low. and so not fully supplying the steering pump and thus box, but the fluid level is good. I've not checked the belt tension, and it's been pretty wet here recently.... anything else I could easily check for? There are no signs of leaks..

thank you

Answer
You may be feeling something that's about to break in the front end.  I'd look very carefully at the steering linkage and especially the CV joints.  Sometimes you have to remove the tie rod so the pieces can be swivelled individually to find the binding part.
