Land Rover Repair: defender clutch, defender td5, clutch cylinder

Question
QUESTION: My defender Td5 has 155000 km on the clock. My master cilinder has failed 3 times in a six month period.I have replaced both the slave and master. What causes this problem?

ANSWER: There is nothing you could "do wrong" when operating your Defender to make the clutch cylinder fail.  Repeated failure suggests one of these things to me:
1) Wrong diagnosis - there is really something else wrong
2) Defective parts
3) Installation error or failure to properly bleed

QUESTION: Can the pressure plate which is 9 years old causes this problem, springs on plate not ok anymore causing to much pressure on the seals in the master cylinder?

Answer
I suppose what you say is possible in theory but I have never seen it in practice, and I've serviced LR for over 20 years.  However, here in America almost all our Rovers have auto transmission.  It's possible a LR service manager in the UK would have a different take on this as standard shift is common there.
