Land Rover Repair: 2003 Land Rover Discovery - Quick trip to get power washer gas - now Disco wont start, land rover discovery, 2003 land rover discovery

Question
Hi John.
I have a 2003 Land Rover Discovery - that I love!  I have never had any issues
with it till yesterday.  I made a quick trip the get gas for my deck power
washer.  The gas can vent allowed some fumes escape into my vehicle as I
drove home. I completed my deck project only to return to my vehicle and it
would not start.  I thought it might have analyzed the compartment air and
thought I had a leak or accident - and cut the fuel.  I checked and - did -
have to reset the fuel cut off switch.  However, I am still not able to get it to
start.  My Disco is sitting in my drive - and - I am sitting in my office
puzzled.  Can you help?

Thanks - Karen in Kansas

Answer
I'm sorry that I can't say why your Rover won't start from here, over the Internet.

What I can say, is that is has nothing to do with fuel odors from the gas can.  There is no such sensor.

I can also say the inertia switch did not need to be reset unless you slammed an object hard enough to trip it.

If an 03 Disco spins ovr but does not catch the most common cause (but not the only cause) is a failed crank sensor.  But that's no more than a guess.
