Land Rover Repair: 2002 Landrover Freelander, abs system, wiper switch

Question
About a week ago it was extremely cold outside and snowing and my wipers decided they were not going to turn on. So I turned the car off and back on and it worked fine. I excused it thinking it was because it was so cold outside and I hadn't driven it for a couple days. But yesterday it happened again and now they won't work at all. Is it a fuse? The traction control and downhill control lights both turned on at the same time too and turned off when I restarted the car. Now those lights won't go away either. Is there anything I can do or do I have to take it to a dealership, which is a problem in itself because it is three  hours away. Any Help would be great and muchly appreciated. thanks

Answer
The problem with the wipers is most likely failure of the wiper switch and/or the wiper motor.  You could check the fuse, but I doubt that it is the problem.

The traction control and hill descent lights indicate an ABS system problem.  There is no way to diagnose the problem without having the codes read.  You don't have to take the car to the dealer, but you do need to take it to a shop that specializes in Land Rovers and has the necessary software to read the ABS fault codes.
