Land Rover Repair: 1995 RANGE ROVER FUSE 12,13,14,15 FAILURE, last legs, electrical control

Question
I GOT FUSE FAILURE MSGS WHEN I STARTED THE CAR COUPLE OF DAYS AGO- IT'S BEEN RUNNING FINE UNTIL THEN (AS FINE AS THIS CAR RUNS!)- MSG JUST SAYS "FUSE 12 FAILED, FUSE 13 FAILED,FUSE 14 FAILED, FUSE 15 FAILED" - BUT YESTERDAY FUSE 13 MSG DID NOT SHOW.  SO CAR WILL START BUT IT'S LOCKED IN "P"ARK AND WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF IT SO I CAN'T EVEN TAKE IT TO A SHOP.

I CHECKED THESE FUSES- ALL LOOKING STILL GOOD- REINSERTED THEM BUT STILL SAME. WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS?? AND ANY SUGGESTIONS ON REPAIRING IT? DON'T HAVE A LOCAL RANGE ROVER SHOP TO EVEN TAKE IT TO. GOT THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER FROM A RELATIVE FOR LOCAL USE. THANK YOU MUCH!!!APPRECIATE YOUR TIME.

Answer
It sounds like the BECM (body electrical control module)is on its last legs.  It is located under the front passenger seat (in the US models).  Usually the failure is caused by spilling a beverage or other liquid on it.  It will most likely get worse and, eventually, render the vehicle inoperative if the unit is not replaced.

These units are quite costly to replace.  A used unit will not work without being programmed (for which you would need a factory compatible computer)and you will not be able to use the vehicle's security system once installed.  You can try an unlocked unit, but this also will need programming.

Good luck!
